Preserving the Lipe Family Civil War Letters

A living testimony of history and resilience

The Lipe Family Civil War Letters are more than historical documents, they are authentic voices from
1861–1862, capturing the life, love, and hope of Joseph S. Lipe, a Confederate soldier, and his wife Margaret Brawley Lipe during the Civil War. Four of Joseph's brothers also served; only one returned.

Preserving this collection safeguards an irreplaceable legacy, offering future generations a direct connection to the human experience of war. Each letter, digitized and transcribed by the Mooresville Public Library's
Local History & Archives
, is carefully organized and made accessible online.

Preserving Our Legacy, Shaping the Future

A Legacy Worth Protecting

We see our archives and preserved materials as more than records, they are the living memory of our mission, values, and impact. Safeguarding them protects our identity, honors our history, and ensures that future generations can learn from our journey.

Inspired by the legacy of Rollins College, we preserve not only to remember, but to teach, inspire, and empower. Every document, image, and record is a bridge between past and future, a source of truth, knowledge, and vision that must endure beyond the moment.

Preservation is our promise: that what we build today will continue to guide and inspire tomorrow.

Extending the spiritual legacy for new generations

Faithful Words, Eternal Impact

Rev. Dr. J. Howard Edington served faithfully for more than five decades, guiding congregations in Orlando, Knoxville, and New York with preaching marked by clarity, conviction, and compassion. His ministry shaped countless lives, both within the church and far beyond it.

Eternal Library now curates The Word Made Fresh to preserve this legacy: safeguarding this vast archive of sermons as a living collection. By preserving and organizing Dr. Edington’s words in a special immersive collection, we ensure that his authentic, life-changing preaching continues to guide and inspire generations to come.

Because sermons are not just words, but a spiritual inheritance that deserves to last forever.

Preserving the Legacy of Baseball Leadership

The legacy of John Henry Hart Jr. is more than a record of games and seasons—it is a blueprint for building excellence in baseball. His vision transformed entire organizations, proving that championships are won not only on the field but in the decisions made long before the first pitch.

By preserving his story, we protect the lessons of leadership, innovation, and integrity that can inspire future players, coaches, and executives.

Every trade, every young player signed, every bold decision became part of a larger philosophy: that success is built through trust, foresight, and a relentless commitment to the team's future. This is why John Hart's legacy matters—because it shows how one person's vision can shape the game for decades to come.

PRESERVING THE LEGACY OF BIBLICAL PREACHING

Safeguarding messages that transform lives

In a world of constant change, clear and faithful biblical preaching shapes identity, inspires communities, and leaves a spiritual legacy worth preserving.

Since 2004, Dr. David Swanson, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, has delivered Christ-centered messages that offer direction, hope, and transformation. Preserving his sermons is more than a technical effort, it is a spiritual mission to ensure that today's truth continues to speak to future generations.

To archive is to protect memory, but to preserve preaching is to build a bridge between generations, safeguarding the voice of the Gospel so it may continue to inspire, teach, and transform lives for years to come.
